India’s exports of coir and coir products have recorded an impressive growth of 305%, increasing from ₹1,630.33 crore in 2014-15 to ₹6,614.40 crore in 2025-26. This means export earnings have grown more than four times over the period.
Coir pith (coco peat), coir fibre, coir yarn and tufted mats are among India’s major coir exports, catering to global demand in horticulture, agriculture, flooring, handicrafts and eco-friendly products.
The United States, China, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom are major destinations for Indian coir products, reflecting strong international acceptance of India’s sustainable coir value chain.
This achievement highlights the strength of India’s coconut-growing regions, coir clusters, rural workers and MSME entrepreneurs. The coir sector is not only earning valuable foreign exchange but also creating employment and supporting women’s livelihoods in rural India.
A proud moment for Make in India, sustainable exports and the Indian MSME ecosystem. Let us continue to promote eco-friendly Indian products across global markets.
