Most Indian exporters think the EU market is hard to enter.
But after reviewing multiple India–EU trade cases recently, I noticed something interesting.
The biggest barrier is not always price.
And surprisingly, not always product quality either.
Over the past few months I have been studying how Indian exporters approach the European market.
Speaking with exporters.
Reviewing EU buyer expectations.
Looking at market entry strategies.
A few patterns started to appear.
1. Compliance is often underestimated
Many exporters focus on product readiness but overlook certification, documentation, and regulatory expectations.
2. EU buyers prioritise reliability
Consistency, traceability, and long term partnerships matter more than many exporters expect.
3. Market approach matters
Exporters who adapt their positioning for specific EU countries tend to perform far better.
